Dads Matter

Make room for daddy. Fathers matter as much as mothers do, in some respects even more, when it comes to a child’s development.
Researches have found that infants and toddlers whose fathers play with them in a sensitive, supportive, and challenging way will form closer and more trusting relationships with them when they become teenagers and adults. Dads should talk to a child on his or her own level, encourage instead of criticize, do child friendly activities. The experts have also concluded that the quality of daddy play is as crucial as mother-infant interaction in predicting child’s future emotional and social well being.
Kids who are well attached to their fathers by the age of five are more likely to be socially successful and confident as grade-schoolers.
And do you think only mom has the special touch when it comes to a baby?.. Daddy’s touch has equally positive effect on baby’s well-being. Massage has been linked to less sleep problems and a lot of other physical and emotional advantages. Fathers who learn to soothe their babies with the help of a nice massage experience their own stress levels drop and self-esteem as parents increase. You can establish warm, positive relationship with your newborn that will continue through childhood with just a little back rub. So baby is not the only one who gains when daddy rubs him or her the right way.
